Read this with the Terms. File Conversion is a free browser tool. It is provided as is. This page states the limits that follow from browser encoders, local memory, and the published pair registry.
1. As is, as available
The Service is provided without warranty of any kind. The operator does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, that every capable browser will encode every pair, that outputs will match a reference encoder, or that a conversion will finish on a low-memory device.
2. Not lossless, not archival
JPEG and WebP quality encoding is lossy. PNG from a JPEG does not restore discarded JPEG detail. Browser canvas pipelines can quantise colour. Do not treat outputs as forensic originals, print proofs, or medical images. Do not treat the Service as an archive or backup. Keep your source files.
3. Metadata is stripped
Outputs do not carry EXIF, XMP, IPTC, GPS, comments, or thumbnails from the source. Orientation is applied to pixels instead. If you needed that metadata, the output will not have it. That is intended behaviour.
4. Transparency and JPEG
PNG and WebP targets preserve alpha. JPEG targets flatten onto the background you chose (default white). Flattening permanently discards transparency in that output.
5. Browser and device differences
Encoders differ by browser. A pair stays disabled if the local capability probe fails. WebKit is not a completed measurement gate of this product. Mobile devices may hit ceilings sooner. Peak JavaScript heap is not used as a reliable gate.
6. Security limits
The product does not protect you from a compromised device, a malicious extension, or the person who receives a download. It does not claim encryption or zero-knowledge processing. See Privacy and Security.
7. No professional advice
Nothing on the site is legal, medical, financial, or accessibility-audit advice. Pair-page FAQ text describes implemented behaviour only.
8. Third parties
Netlify, browser vendors, font licensors, and alexjungean.com are independent. Their outages or terms are not File Conversion warranties.
9. Liability
Liability is limited as stated in the Terms. Mandatory rights that cannot be waived remain.
